The Challenge
Picture a cold season: sniffles, aches, and a world full of search results about symptom relief.
At its heart, this project wasn’t just about technology—it was about empathy. We built an AI-powered companion that acted less like a medical website and more like a friendly, knowledgeable partner through every sniffle and sneeze. Users could speak, type, or tap suggested prompts, and Watson would guide them—layering in video FAQs and contextual advice based on their evolving questions.
Learning to start an intelligent conversation.
Theraflu’s and Watson Advertising collaborated on a next-generation digital experience that leveraged weather, location, and sentiment data to reach people in real-time and provide consumers with the information that matters to them – fueled by them.
The challenge was twofold: crafting clear, comforting UX around complex medical information, while making advanced AI feel approachable. I began by designing engaging interfaces where users could ask anything from “How long will my fever last?” to “Should I see a doctor?” Watson then responded using both text and video, curated from TheraFlu’s existing library, with each answer flowing logically from the last—mimicking a supportive conversation. Building intuitive flows for voice and text entry, visual cues to reinforce guidance, and fallback prompts for lost users—every design choice grounded in accessibility and empathetic tone.
